Job summary

McKesson is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to guide architecture across the Ontada iKnowMed G2 platform, including Health Portal and Value-Based Care solutions. You will design scalable, secure cloud-native systems using Java, microservices, and AI-enabled workflows across the U.S. clinical landscape.

The role emphasizes collaboration with product, security, and engineering leaders to deliver reliable, high-performing platforms and governance across initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience including architecture and leadership.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud-native architecture.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, API gateways, event-driven architectures, Kafka.
• Hands-on expertise with Docker/Kubernetes and IaC in cloud environments.
• Familiarity with AI/GenAI, LLMs, and RAG architectures is a plus.
• Experience in regulated environments and healthcare interoperability is a plus.
• Degree or equivalent; advanced degree strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technology vision, architecture strategy, and modernization roadmap for enterprise platforms.
• Lead architecture reviews, establish standards, and ensure solutions meet scalability and security.
• Drive cloud-native modernization, containerization, and platform engineering practices.
• Architect secure, scalable integration using REST, messaging, and event-driven patterns.
• Develop multi-year roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies aligned with business goals.
• Mentor engineering teams and enforce governance, best practices, and technical excellence.
• Champion AI adoption and responsible AI practices across platforms.
