Job summary

Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery in Eagle Creek, Oregon is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead plant purchasing and ensure availability of plant materials for nursery operations and customer projects.

You will build strong relationships with growers and suppliers, monitor inventory, and coordinate with Sales, Receiving, and Yard teams to balance priorities. This is an in-office role emphasizing hands-on nursery purchasing and vendor management.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in the nursery, horticulture, or a closely related industry.
• Purchasing, procurement, or plant-buying experience within the nursery or horticulture industry.
• Strong knowledge of plant material and nursery operations.
• Experience using ERP accounting or purchasing software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead plant purchasing activities to maintain appropriate inventory levels and support nursery operations and customer needs.
• Build and maintain relationships with growers, vendors, and suppliers, including resolving product availability, pricing, delivery, and supply issues.
• Monitor inventory needs and purchasing activity to prevent stockouts, overstock, and obsolete inventory.
• Research and source plant material for inventory, customer projects, and special orders, recommending substitutions when appropriate.
• Partner with Sales, Receiving, and Yard teams to coordinate purchasing needs and product availability.
• Manage purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing and vendor information within company systems.
