Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Lead Piping Field Engineer for the Houston area. The role leads piping field engineering, coordinating with construction, ES&H, and startup teams to ensure work aligns with drawings, specs and schedules.

The position requires strong fabrication and field execution knowledge, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely turnover of piping systems on a major API project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 8–14 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of piping codes, standards and design requirements.
• Ability to coordinate design, construction, ES&H and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead piping field engineers and direct activities per project procedures.
• Support staffing, training, competency development and feedback.
• Maintain clear communication between design and field teams.
• Coordinate with construction, subcontractors, project controls and quality.
• Lead piping quantity takeoff, forecast, and manpower planning.
• Oversee piping work packages, RFIs, and turnover documentation.
• Review cost and schedule data; support estimates and progress reports.
• Direct field material requisitions and receiving/warehousing processes.
• Coordinate piping subcontract activities and schedule integration.
• Ensure installation, testing, inspection and turnover meet requirements.
