Job summary

Matrix PDM Engineering, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Sr. Designer/Checker for piping to lead design activities and verify drawings for accuracy. This senior role will drive layouts, check prints, and manage scope and schedule on complex projects.

The position requires strong piping knowledge, 3D CAD proficiency (CADWorx/PDMS/AVEVA), and the ability to lead both internal and external designers. Occasional overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline focus in piping design preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years piping design and layout experience required; 2+ years with Matrix preferred.
• Advanced 3D CAD systems knowledge (CADWorx/PDMS/AVEVA) required; AVEVA platform highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of piping, mechanical, and drafting disciplines.
• Knowledge of API, ANSI, ASME codes and piping standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce piping layouts and drawings with accuracy and completeness.
• Lead Discipline Design Lead (DDL) and potentially Project Design Lead (PDL) on projects.
• Coordinate with internal/external designers and drafters to stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Check drawings for constructability, interferences, safety, and quality.
• Prepare and manage scope, budget, and scheduling for projects or assignments.
