Job summary

Austin Industrial in Decatur, IL, seeks a Pipefitter Leadman to read isometric drawings, lay out, install and maintain pipe systems for industrial facilities. The role involves working from blueprints and coordinating pipework with other trades.

The leadman will supervise 1–5 pipe fitter helpers, plan layouts, select materials, and ensure safety and quality on site. Strong welding, brazing, and threading skills are required.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets isometric drawings, blueprints and other drawings or product specification instructions.
• Experience with cutting, threading, welding and fitting pipe.
• Supervises pipe fitter helpers and coordinates installation activities.

Responsibilities

• Cut, thread, and assemble pipe to specifications using hand and power tools.
• Install and maintain pipe systems, supports and related equipment.
• Inspect and test installed systems for leaks and safety.
• Plan layouts and select pipe sizes and materials per specs.
