Job summary

You will interpret isometric drawings, plan layouts, select materials, and supervise 1 to 5 pipefitter helpers in the Operations Department. The role requires hands-on plumbing fabrication and weld/braze skills with safety adherence.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret isometric drawings, blueprints and drawings or product specification instructions.
• Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for industrial production and processing systems.
• Cut, thread, and hammer pipe to specifications using saws, torches, and threaders and benders.
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints.
• Attach pipes to walls or structures using brackets, clamps, tools or welding equipment.
• Inspect, test, and verify installed systems using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, or other methods.
• Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
• Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems and plan installations per specifications.
• Select pipe sizes and related materials per specifications.
• Cut and bore holes in structures prior to pipe installation.
• Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems and equipment following specifications.
• Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems.
• Turn valves to shut off steam, water, or other gases or liquids.
• Remove and replace worn components.
• Prepare cost estimates for clients.
• Inspect work sites for obstructions and structural integrity.
• Operate motorized pumps to remove water from flooded areas.
• Dip piping materials in molten tin/lead coating to prevent erosion.
