Job summary

Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certificate and license if applicable.
  • Ability to proficiently perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy professionally, competently and with compassion for the patient.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for all staff members and patients, including proper specimen handling and infection control.
  • Ensure requisitions are completed with patient data, demographics, diagnosis and insurance information.
  • Review Medicare policies (NCD/LMRP) to determine ABN requirements when needed.
  • Ensure MSP forms are completed when necessary.
  • Accurately collect all specimens to fulfill lab orders.
  • Provide accurate communication to clients and their staff regarding test ordering.
  • Keep the draw station clean and stocked daily.
  • Inform supervisor of performance issues, concerns and schedule on a daily basis.
  • If in a physician's office, collect specimens for the lab and not for the physician's practice.
