Job summary

Magee - Women's Hospital of UPMC is seeking a Full Time Lead Pharmacy Technician to support sterile compounding services. The role coordinates daily activities with pharmacists and management, mentors technicians, and ensures regulatory compliance and accurate records.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or accredited program completion, CPhT, PA Board registration, and at least 5 years of experience in pharmacy operations with leadership skills; experience in NICU/OR sterile areas is

Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent or completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
• 5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Operation Specialist.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
• PA State Board of Pharmacy Registration required for all PA locations
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
• Demonstrated leadership in current position.
• Demonstrated competency in designated areas: sterile products, IV admixtures, robotics, packaging, OR.

Responsibilities

• Create and lead departmental quality improvement activities to improve pharmaceutical care.
• Train other Pharmacy Technicians in sterile compounding areas (NICU, OR, Hazardous medications).
• Develop workflow guidelines, policies, and procedures to maximize productivity and regulatory readiness.
• Oversee and instruct associates in day-to-day activities in sterile compounding areas.
• Maintain all pertinent documentation and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Distribute medications and maintain controlled substance records.
