Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to lead and train the pharmacy technician team within the hospital’s SMH department. This role supervises training programs, schedules staff, and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations under the direction of a licensed pharmacist.

Ideal candidates will have hospital pharmacy experience and a certification as a Pharmacy Technician, plus NYS licensure preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3 years of acute hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician, or relevant management experience.
• Certification from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician program (PTCB) and ongoing education requirements; NYS licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a member and leader of the pharmacy technician team.
• Oversees training and materials, and schedules staff.
• Ensures functions comply with regulations; supervised by a licensed pharmacist.
• Trains technicians and assesses ongoing competency.
• Performs monthly unit inspections and documents findings.
• Manages hiring, evaluations, time and attendance, and disciplinary actions.
• Collaborates with leadership to implement process improvements.
• Provides operational coverage across shifts.
