Qualifications

• Pharmacist degree required or equivalent ACPE-accredited program.
• State licensure to practice pharmacy where required.
• Enjoys applying clinical knowledge to patient care.
• Strong computer and record-keeping skills.
• Familiarity with long-term care or senior living settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medications by reviewing physician orders and measuring ingredients.
• Dispsense medications according to policy and legal requirements.
• Assess drug identity, strength, and purity.
• Maintain records including patient profiles, narcotics, and inventories.
• Monitor therapies and advise interventions to optimize outcomes.
• Organize technicians' workflow and verify preparation and labeling.
• Support workflow with barcode verification and drug image checks.
• Screen for drug interactions and contraindications using computer systems.
• Provide pharmacological information to health care professionals and patients.
• Train staff, interns, and health care professionals in pharmacology.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal drug laws and disposal guidelines.
• Maintain infection-control protocols and patient safety standards.
• Travel may be minimal, including overnight stays when necessary.
• Support departmental goals and company objectives.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures, rules, and ethical standards.
