Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking a Personal Property Manager to lead the listing, appraisal, assessment, and audit of all taxable personal property in the county. You will supervise a team of appraisers and support staff, oversee the annual listing cycle, and act as the primary contact with taxpayers and tax professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required plus four years of progressive personal property experience.
  • Equivalent mix of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Certification as Personal Property Appraiser or progress toward certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate appraisers, listers, and clerical staff; manage workload and priorities.
  • Direct annual listing, review listings, and ensure market-value appraisals per state guidelines.
  • Oversee audit programs, discovery of unlisted property, and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Handle informal appeals and coordinate with Board of Equalization and Review.
  • Maintain property records in the tax/CAMA system and produce management reports.
  • Assist in division budget preparation and policy updates.
