Alamance County Government seeks a Personal Property Manager to direct listing, appraisal, and audit of taxable personal property, ensuring compliance with state guidance and county policy. You will lead appraisers and staff, coordinate with taxpayers, and drive accurate valuation and reporting.

The Personal Property Manager plans, directs, and supervises the listing, appraisal, assessment, and audit of all taxable personal property in Alamance County. Taxable personal property includes business personal property, individual personal property, unregistered motor vehicles, boats, aircraft, manufactured homes, and farm equipment. The position makes sure the division complies with the North Carolina Machinery Act (G.S. Chapter 105, Subchapter II), NC Department of Revenue guidelines, and county policy. The manager leads a team of appraisers and support staff, oversees the annual listing cycle, and serves as the division's primary contact with taxpayers, tax professionals, and other county divisions.

The work is primarily performed in an office setting, with occasional field visits to business locations for inspections and audits. Basic term life insurance is the amount of one times the annual salary (no greater than $70,000) is provided for all FT employees. Additional coverage is available for purchase through payroll deductions for employee and eligible dependents.
Membership in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System (NCLGERS) is a requirement for all full-time and regular part-time employees (working more than 1,000 hours annually). Employees contribute six percent (6%) of their annual compensation before it is taxed.
Annual Leave is accrued based on years of service. Employees can accrue from 10-25 days per year.
All County full time employees earn 12 days of sick leave per year.
