Cabarrus County North Carolina is seeking an experienced administrator to manage the business personal property audit process and lead special tax department projects. The role reports to the Personal Property Manager and may supervise Tax Auditor staff.

Required is a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance with accounting coursework; a Master’s degree is preferred, plus 3–5 years in related fields. Occasional evening work may be required for board meetings.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with coursework in accounting.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in Accounting, Tax, Auditing, Assessment, Supervisory or Grant Administration.
  • NCDOR Personal Property and Real Property Appraiser designations preferred but may be attained within the first two years.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise desk and field audits; assist with contract tax audits and grants administration.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports; analyze data for valuation and appeals.
  • Respond to inquiries concerning tax bills; assist with budget preparation.
  • Develop policies and forms for grant programs; audit grant compliance.
  • Review complex exemption/exclusion filings.
  • Support development of tax policies and reports.
  • Occasional evening work for board meetings.
