Job summary

Alter Trading seeks a Lead in its Des Moines area to perform a wide range of administrative, clerical and retail duties, acting as Assistant to the Supervisor. Responsibilities include customer service, cash handling, inventory and showroom oversight, and supervising counter staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years cashier experience, 1–3 years in clerical work, and strong Word/Excel skills. Knowledge of ferrous/non-ferrous materials and car parts is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years’ cashier experience in retail and 1-3 years experience as office/clerical assistant.
• Intermediate skills in Word and Excel.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to handle customers and colleagues with courtesy and respect.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials and familiarity with car parts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and screen customers, vendors and visitors including staff.
• Answer incoming calls with courteous service; provide product and price information.
• Direct inquiries to appropriate area or person and escalate as needed.
• Interact with tow truck drivers and parts sales staff.
• Supervise online parts or car sales.

Salary Range: $22.00 To $26.00 Hourly

Location: Greeley, CO

Reports To: U-Pull-It Supervisor

Job Scope

Performs a wide variety of administrative, clerical and retail duties as Assistant to the Supervisor. Processes titles from incoming vehicle purchases. De-titles outgoing vehicles. Provides exceptional customer service and direction to customers. Establishes and promotes retail promotions including scheduling of key events (50% giveaways, $100 wheel barrel etc.), facilitating communications, and day-to-day operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Greets and screens customers, vendors and other visitors including staff.
• Answer incoming calls in a courteous manner. Identifies caller’s needs and responds by giving both general and specific information on products and prices.
• Give direction, respond to questions from customers, vendors, and employees and/or directs calls to appropriate area/person.
• Interacts with tow truck drivers and parts sales staff.
• Supervise online parts or car sales.
• Inspects both inbound and outbound customers for parts and tools.
• Maintains a presentable showroom.
• Inventory management.
• Supervise, assign, and review work of Counter Clerks; provide training and direction as needed, back-up to the Counter Clerks.
• Clerical functions including data entry, manage, develop, and run reports.
• Cash Accountability: Balance cash drawer at the end of the day, processes payment for parts, handling cash, credit cards, etc.
• Maintain appropriate copies for documentation and backup for filing and to support payments.
• Check day-end reports for accuracy; verify numbers and codes with tape.
• Completes any production and/or inventory reports as necessary.
• Perform other related duties or special projects.

Education/Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 2 years’ experience working as a cashier in a retail environment and 1-3 years experience working as an office or clerical assistant. Qualified candidates must have at least intermediate level skills in Word and Excel. Candidate must have excellent customer service skills and ability to handle both customers and company employees with courtesy and respect. General knowledge of the difference between ferrous and non-ferrous material is a plus. General knowledge on car parts is a plus.
