Job summary

Alter Trading in Greeley, CO seeks a General Manager to lead shredding and metal recycling operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and profitable site performance. You will supervise departments, manage budgets, and maintain key customer relationships.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in leadership roles with shredder operations experience preferred, and a degree in business or related field; occasional travel is required and a valid driver’s license is necessary. Relocation assistance is provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication style to build trust and confidence within all levels of the company and with external vendors/customers.
• Occasional travel to other facilities or customers; valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees shredding, ferrous, non-ferrous and transportation departments
• Supervises employees including hiring, discipline, and terminations as necessary
• Interacts with customers on a regular basis
• Ability to grade and price scrap; may issue payments to customers as needed
• Maintains excellent relationships with both commercial and peddler customers
• Maintains company safety and environmental objectives and standards; maintains ISO and OSHA compliance requirements
• Supervises building and equipment maintenance and replacement needs
• Manages cost and expenditures; takes action to meet or exceed budgeted targets for yard volume, net profit and ROI
• Prepares and monitors annual budgets and monthly operating reports
• Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

Alter Trading is looking for a General Manager who is a Leader with direct Auto Shredder Experience in metal recycling who has the ability to inspire and motivate their team.

ABOUT THE GENERAL MANAGER JOB:

Under the direction of the Regional Director of Operations, responsible for all activities including planning, maintenance, staffing, training and operation associated with the safe and efficient functioning of the Greely, CO facility.

• Oversees shredding, ferrous, non-ferrous and transportation departments
• Supervises employees including hiring, discipline, and terminations as necessary

ABOUT YOU, GENERAL MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in Shredder Operations is Preferred.
• 5 years industry experience including supervisory experience.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, management or other related area, preferred
• Must have excellent open communication style to carry out ongoing dialogues in a way that creates trust and confidence within all levels of the company as well as with external vendors and customers.
• Ability to travel occasionally to other facilities or customers as needed. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
