Job summary

Actalent in Minneapolis, MN is seeking a PCB Layout Designer to transform schematics into manufacturable PCBs using Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Altium, and Cadence Allegro. You will create fabrication documents and collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure manufacturability.

You will mentor junior designers, drive process improvements, and apply IPC standards for rigid, rigid-flex, and HDI multilayer boards while coordinating with PLM and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electronics or closely related field.
• 5+ years of PCB design software experience, preferably Mentor Graphics Xpedition VX.2.0+.
• Proficient in PCB layout, schematic capture and electrical design concepts.
• Familiar with IPC specifications for PCB manufacturing.
• Experience with rigid, rigid-flex and flexible PCBs using multilayer/HDI tech.
• Experience with PLM/ERP to manage design data and docs.
• Strong written and verbal communication for cross-group collaboration.
• Mentoring abilities for junior PCB designers.

Responsibilities

• Design and redesign PCBs from schematics using Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Designer and Design Capture.
• Create detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and manufacturing files.
• Collaborate with Designers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to refine designs.
• Update drawings and initiate engineering change orders as needed.
• Serve as SME in PCB design and mentor other designers.
• Propose process improvements and author new procedures for quality and efficiency.
• Create schematic symbols and component geometries using Xpedition and PCB Library Expert.
• Apply IPC specs to ensure layouts meet manufacturing standards.
• Accommodate rigid, rigid-flex, and flexible PCBs including multilayer/HDI.
• Use PLM/ERP systems to manage design data and lifecycle information.
• Set up and modify layout constraints for complex, high-speed designs.
• Leverage high-speed design principles to maintain signal integrity.
