Job summary

Cianbro is seeking a senior payroll leader to manage in-house payroll for the parent company and subsidiaries from our Maine operations. You will oversee a busy payroll team, ensure timely processing of salaries, benefits, taxes, and compliance, and collaborate with Finance, HR, Tax, and Project teams to support business objectives.

You will monitor regulatory changes, manage year-end filings, and drive process improvements to strengthen internal controls while coaching a high-performing payroll

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field; associate may be considered with experience.
• 6-10 years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state and multi-entity payroll and team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, taxes, reconciliations, internal controls, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll team and oversee payroll functions for parent company and subsidiaries.
• Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and total compensation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and reporting requirements.
• Manage annual W-2s and other payroll filings.
• Resolve payroll issues with Finance, HR, Operations and external partners.
• Lead payroll system enhancements and process improvements.
• Supervise, coach, and develop payroll staff.
