Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Payments Modernization in Plano, TX. You will drive architecture, design, and delivery for a next‑generation wire payment processing platform, mentoring teams and shaping technology strategy.

You will work across cross-functional teams to define tech stacks, implement CI/CD, and deliver scalable, secure solutions using Java, AWS, Kafka, and modern frameworks. This role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and impact.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in payments platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS native services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway).
• Strong knowledge of IaC using CloudFormation or Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience in enterprise-scale projects.
• Familiarity with Finacle or similar core banking platforms is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define tech stack and ensure alignment with portfolio solution.
• Lead CI/CD adoption and tooling across teams.
• Provide end-to-end delivery of complex features across multiple teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders on high-level needs and technical requirements.
• Research and prototype new tools for release management and deployment.
