Job summary

City of Columbia, SC is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker to assist with operation and upkeep of Finlay Park and related facilities. The role involves directing, coordinating and performing grounds maintenance, repairs, and construction tasks under general supervision.

Applicants should be physically fit, able to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, and willing to work outdoors in various conditions. A valid SC driver’s license and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of relevant prior experience preferred.
• Valid South Carolina Class D driver’s license or equivalent.
• Ability to operate basic maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and participate in maintenance, repair, and construction projects for park grounds and facilities.
• Plan daily duties and set priorities for staff; supervise and coordinate work.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of facilities; perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Provide customer service to park users; respond to routine questions and issues.
• Monitor inventories and requisition materials as needed.
• Attend required training sessions and stay updated on procedures.
