About The Position

The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Lead Painter (Maintenance Services Attendant 3A) grade A13 position, in the Facilities Operation and Management Division.

Prince George's County Office of Central Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill Maintenance Services Attendant III, grade A-13, within its Facilities Operation and Management Division. This position may work in various County facilities, including correctional facility. This is an essential position. This is a lead/supervisory work within the skilled craft occupational category, which is characterized by the performance of skilled and manual work. The selected individual leads/supervises the work of a crew of skilled crafts and labor positions in the accomplishment of a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the trade occupations (e.g. plumbing, general carpentry, electrical, painting, etc.) Work is performed under general supervision and evaluated by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with departmental policies and regulations.

About The Agency

The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George’s County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. Examples of Work
  • Performs painting, restorative, and improvement work in various county-owned and leased buildings to include but not limited to:
    • Applying paint and other coating to drywall and other surfaces;
    • Patching walls and performing other prep tasks as necessary;
    • Install hardwood floors, cabinets, drywall, doors, and insulation;
    • Inspect products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
  • Leads and directs Maintenance Service Attendants and/or Trades Helpers and other team members as assigned in the completion of complex, multi-faceted repair and improvement projects requiring fine finish/painting of walls, ceilings, etc.
  • Works individually or as a team leader, responding to work orders generated by the SAP Work Order Management system as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Coordinates efforts with other members of Carpentry Team to stage painting and finish work according to schedule. Responsible for directing Carpentry Team in major painting/refinishing efforts.
  • Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of high school or vocational school.
  • Responsible experience in the general maintenance trades work at the full performance level.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with no more than six (6) points.
  • Must be willing to respond to emergency service called on a 24-hour basis.
  • Good physical condition.

Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of experience performing repair/maintenance and refinishing work on repair, remodeling, and rehabilitation projects.
  • One (1) year of lead/supervisory level experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency.

Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies.
