Job summary

RR Donnelley seeks a skilled packaging and display designer to lead the design phase of packaging and display projects from objective analysis to production. You will craft visual and structural concepts, develop prototypes, and create accurate production-ready artwork.

Responsibilities include translating customer needs into solutions, researching existing products, obtaining approvals, and coordinating with agencies and printers to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 5+ years of relevant work experience
• Must identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions
• Must organize and prioritize resources to implement effective solutions
• Able to communicate clearly and courteously with stakeholders
• Strong business acumen and collaborative problem-solving
• Proficient with Windows/MAC or other technical tools
• Mentor junior team members in tool usage
• Ability to tailor communication to audience level
• Understand the impact of a message on the organization or customer
• Strong knowledge of prepress production and manufacturing processes
• Proficient with packaging software including AutoCAD, Quark Express, Freehand, Illustrator

Responsibilities

• Translates customer needs into creative structural design solutions considering visual integrity and cost manufacturability
• Researches existing products, ideas, and patents from all media
• Obtains approval of concept by submitting ideas to team for approval and critique
• Designs and produces visual communication in various formats and materials, including prototypes and technical drawings
• Prepares finished digital art and high-resolution images/files
• Manages and disseminates information and files through design to production and assembly
• Coordinates with outside agencies, printers, and service providers
• Enhances existing concepts or designs
• Works on patenting new products and patent searches
• Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned
