Job description

Lead Packaging Engineer

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an Engineer to join the Packaging Team within the Structures Engineering Design Department.

This role involves leading vehicle system-level and component-level packaging efforts from concept to production, collaborating closely with subsystem engineers to ensure packaging feasibility within the vehicle architecture.

What You Will Do:

1. Identify interference conditions and feasibility challenges; develop solutions to address them.
2. Use kinematic models to generate clearance envelopes for spatial planning.
3. Manage packaging issues through creation, assignment, and tracking; coordinate review meetings with stakeholders to resolve issues.
4. Perform benchmarking analysis and maintain a database of dimensional benchmarks.
5. Assist in developing layout drawings and master sections.
6. Analyze surfaces with designers to ensure production feasibility and system alignment.
7. Collaborate with manufacturing and other teams to ensure assembly process feasibility.

What You Will Bring to the Role:

1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program.
2. At least 3 years of vehicle packaging experience.
3. Proficiency in CATIA / Creo with demonstrated skills.
4. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global team environment.
