Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Lead RN to join our OR-focused perioperative team in Illinois. The role emphasizes neuro experience, adherence to ethical and compliance standards, and collaboration with surgical staff to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

The position features a Monday–Friday schedule with no weekends or holidays and standard daytime hours. A BSN and current Illinois license are required, with additional leadership responsibilities and a commitment to patient advocacy

Qualifications

BSN required; Illinois licensure active.
Competent in basic nursing and computer skills.
Neuro or perioperative experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Makes room assignments appropriate to the skill level of the specialty service team.
Manages, plans, and monitors specialty day-to-day clinical operations.
Develops and maintains preference cards.
Provides direct patient care as needed.
Monitors room turnover.
Collaborates with specialty service team to ensure equipment and supplies are available.
Identifies and coordinates needs of specialty service physicians.
Supports staff and surgeon during schedule changes.
Controls costs through conservation of supplies and equipment care.
Documents assessments, interventions and patient responses.
Informs OR Clinical Nurse Manager of activities and issues.
Enforces infection control policies and documentation standards.
Maintains patient confidentiality and acts as advocate.
