Job summary

Helmholtz Munich invites applications for a Lead Development Scientist/Engineer in Optoacoustic Imaging Systems. You will join a multidisciplinary team spanning mathematics, computation/AI, engineering, physics, medicine, and regulatory science to translate breakthrough imaging tech into human studies and clinical practice.

You will drive advanced instrumentation development, understand regulatory requirements, and collaborate with European partners to push translational imaging forward.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree with strong academic record in a relevant field.
• Experience in optical systems, photonics, sensors or biomedical imaging.
• Programming in MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW and related environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of advanced optoacoustic instrumentation and sensing tech.
• Navigate regulatory and quality-management activities for first-in-human studies.
• Contribute to device validation, performance characterization, and clinical translation.
• Collaborate with clinical, industrial and academic partners across Europe.
• Design and implement optical, electronic, and system-level solutions.
• Publish in journals, present at conferences, and contribute to IP.
• Advance health assessment methods for future medicine.
