Job summary

Helmholtz Zentrum München is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x) to develop handheld multispectral optoacoustic tomography systems for clinical imaging. You will work across optics, acoustics, electronics, computation, and medicine to push image quality and quantitative performance.

The role offers collaboration with clinical partners and a MedTech startup, with opportunities for scientific visibility and leadership. Initial two-year term with potential extension.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong motivation, scientific curiosity, and commitment to excellence.
  • Experience with electronics, optical systems, ultrasound, sensors, or CAD, and biomedical imaging systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop next-generation handheld hybrid optoacoustic and ultrasound imaging systems with high image quality.
  • Advance clinical imaging solutions for cancer diagnosis and therapy monitoring.
  • Develop optical, acoustic, electronic, and computational technologies for clinical optoacoustic imaging.
  • Collaborate on EU and German government funded research programs.
  • Work with clinical partners and a MedTech startup to translate technology.
