Beaufort County Water Department is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to operate and monitor the county's water treatment facility, perform routine laboratory tests, and maintain detailed operation records.

Shifts may include outdoor environments and exposure to hazards; the role requires a high school diploma with chemistry/biology or maintenance coursework and a valid NC driver’s license. Training for Level C certification will follow.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in chemistry/biology or mechanical maintenance preferred.
• Ability to read charts/graphs, perform standard laboratory tests, and maintain detailed records.
• Experience with safety protocols and operation of water treatment equipment is desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Operate the water treatment plant and pumps; monitor readings and adjust chemical feeds.
• Backwash filters and maintain chemical day tanks; collect samples and test for chlorine residual.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on plant equipment; keep accurate records and logs.
• Inspect wells, readings, and storage levels; respond to demand changes and energy-use considerations.
• Receive and manage chemical deliveries; ensure proper storage and safe handling.
