Job summary

Snowflake is seeking a Principal Software Engineer 2 to define and drive the architecture for OLTP across Snowflake Postgres, Unistore, and related infrastructure. You will lead cross-team architectural decisions and shape low-latency, highly available transactional systems, with a focus on agent-driven workloads and safe lifecycle management.

The role requires deep PostgreSQL expertise and extensive experience in distributed databases, with strong systems programming skills in C/C++/Rust.

Qualifications

15+ years of experience building databases and distributed systems.
Deep expertise in OLTP, transactions, replication and high availability.
Strong systems programming experience; C, C++, or Rust a plus.
Experience guiding architectural direction across multiple teams or product areas.

Responsibilities

Define and drive the long-term architecture for OLTP across Snowflake Postgres and Unistore.
Lead major architectural decisions across transactions, storage, concurrency control, replication and recovery.
Shape the compute and storage architecture for low-latency, highly available transactional systems.
Build primitives for agent-driven workloads and safe lifecycle management.
Collaborate with product leaders and customers on key technical and product decisions.
