Job summary

Snowflake is seeking a Principal Software Engineer 2 to define and drive the architecture for OLTP across Snowflake Postgres, Unistore and related infrastructure. You will shape transactional systems for agent-driven workloads with strong guarantees around consistency and governance.

The role demands 15+ years in databases or distributed systems, deep PostgreSQL knowledge, and systems programming in C/C++ or Rust, with leadership across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years building databases, distributed systems or large-scale cloud infra.
• Deep expertise in OLTP, concurrency, storage, replication and high availability.
• Experience designing elastic, multi-tenant stateful systems.
• Strong systems programming with C/C++ or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the long-term technical architecture for OLTP across Snowflake Postgres, Unistore and the infrastructure they depend on.
• Lead major architectural decisions across transactions, storage, concurrency control, replication, recovery, query execution and database scalability.
• Shape the compute and storage architecture for low-latency, highly available transactional systems, including resource isolation and container infrastructure.
• Build database primitives for agent-driven workloads, including isolated environments, checkpointing and rollback.
