Job summary

Snowflake is hiring a Senior Postgres Engineer to help build a world-class Postgres service. You will design, implement, and optimize large-scale databases across multi-cloud environments and collaborate across distributed teams to deliver scalable, reliable data platforms.

You will lead work on orchestration layers, tuning, and security while partnering with cloud APIs and infrastructure teams to redefine performance and resilience beyond traditional Postgres deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years industry experience designing, building and developing large scale systems.
• Experience building distributed, highly available, fault tolerant services.
• Excellent understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance, and scale.
• Extremely strong fundamental computer science skills.
• Experience with Java, Python/Ruby & Go.
• Experience running & maintaining large Postgres servers.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (VPCs, PrivateLink, Peering, etc)
• Experience working with remote, geographically distributed teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop orchestration layer/control-plane of large scale databases.
• Work with AWS, Azure, and GCP APIs.
• Build High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Tune Postgres to operate at scale for some of the largest datasets in the world.
• Secure and ensure customer data is protected.
