Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to architect and evolve our observability and logging platforms across distributed systems. You will drive design decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with SRE, Security, Networking, Platform Engineering, and Data Science teams.

You’ll apply AI/ML and cloud-native approaches to improve reliability, scalability, and performance while aligning observability with business goals and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with observability/logging focus.
• 3+ years in hands-on observability design and engineering.
• 2+ years hands-on AI development for observability.
• 2+ years hands-on experience developing data logging solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments through software engineering best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools to streamline observability instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines using IaC and configuration management tools.
• Conduct observability code reviews and implement automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead the design of distributed systems focused on reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across teams to align observability strategies with business goals.
• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to leadership.
