Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Enterprise Observability to architect, design, and scale logging and observability platforms. You will mentor engineers, drive AI-enabled anomaly detection, and collaborate with SRE, Security, and Platform teams to ensure reliability and performance across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with observability/logging focus.
• 3+ years hands on observability design and engineering solution
• 2+years hands on experience with AI Development (not an end user of AI)
• 2+years hands on experience developing data logging solutions
• 2+years Automation experience
• 2+years Maturing/Scaling Observability
• Strong foundation in operating systems, networking, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
• Agile delivery experience and observability maturity mindset.
• Expertise with Splunk Cloud Enterprise & ES (SPL, dashboards, correlation searches, data models)
• Scaled and complex Data onboarding (HEC, UF, TA development)
• Integration with SNOW, SOAR, ITSM/SecOps tools
• Observability, Monitoring and alerting strategy design
• Automation and cost optimization
• Leading cross-functional programs across technologies

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments through software engineering best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools to streamline observability instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines using IaC and configuration management tools.
• Conduct observability code reviews and implement automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead design of distributed systems focused on reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Manage data routing, transformation, and endpoint monitoring integrations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across teams to align observability strategies with business goals.
• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to leadership.
