Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Enterprise Observability to design and evolve logging platforms, mentor engineers, and drive enterprise-scale initiatives.

You will collaborate with SRE, Security, Networking, Platform Engineering, and Data Science teams to evolve our observability strategy using AI/ML and cloud-native technologies. The role emphasizes building scalable logging solutions, integration with CI/CD, and cost-conscious architecture.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with observability focus.
• 3+ years hands-on observability design and engineering solution.
• 2+ years hands-on AI development experience.
• 2+ years hands-on data logging experience.
• 2+ years automation experience.
• 2+ years maturing/scaling observability.
• Strong foundation in OS, networking, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
• Agile delivery and observability maturity experience.
• Expertise with Splunk Cloud Enterprise & ES.
• Data onboarding across HE C, UF, TA development.
• Integration with ITSM/SecOps tools.
• Observability, monitoring and alerting strategy design.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments through software engineering best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools to streamline observability instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines using IaC and configuration management tools.
• Conduct observability code reviews and implement automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead the design of distributed systems focused on reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Manage data routing, transformation, and endpoint monitoring integrations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across teams to align observability strategies with business goals.
• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to leadership.
