Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer specialized in logging and observability to drive design and implementation of scalable, reliable monitoring platforms. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with SRE, Security, Networking, and Data Science to evolve our observability strategy using AI/ML and cloud-native tech.

You will shape enterprise-scale initiatives, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure high performance across distributed systems, tooling, and data routing.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure with observability focus.
• Strong foundations in OS, networking, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Python, .NET, Java, Go, or Node.js.
• Expertise in AI Ops and system architecture.
• Proficient in CI/CD with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
• Infra as Code with Terraform or Ansible.
• Cloud-native development on Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• API design with REST or gRPC.
• Proven leadership and mentoring.
• Agile delivery and observability maturity.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments through software engineering best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools to streamline observability instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and configuration management tools.
• Conduct observability code reviews and implement automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead the design of distributed systems focused on reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Manage data routing, transformation, and endpoint monitoring integrations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across teams to align observability strategies with business goals.
• Communicate technical insights and recommendations to leadership.
