Job summary

Humana seeks a Lead Software Engineer to drive design, implementation, and evolution of our observability and logging platforms. You will mentor engineers and collaborate across SRE, Security, Networking, Platform Engineering, and Data Science to evolve our observability strategy using AI/ML and cloud-native technologies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with observability/logging focus.
• Strong foundation in operating systems, networking, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience with Python, Java, Go and/or Node.js.
• Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible).
• Cloud-native development on Azure/AWS/GCP and API design (REST/gRPC).
• Leadership and mentoring experience; Agile delivery in observability maturity.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments using software engineering best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools for instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines with IaC and config management.
• Conduct observability code reviews and implement automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead design of distributed systems focused on reliability and performance.
