Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Enterprise Observability Engineering. You will design, implement, and evolve logging platforms, champion OpenTelemetry, and apply AI/ML to detect anomalies in distributed systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive enterprise-scale initiatives, and collaborate with SRE, Security, Networking, Platform Engineering, and Data Science to advance observability across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with observability focus.
• Strong foundation in operating systems, networking, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Programming experience (e.g., Python, .Net, Java, Go, Node.js).
• System architecture and AI Ops.
• CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Cloud-native development (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• API design (REST, gRPC).
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
• Agile delivery and observability maturation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and optimize observability environments with best practices.
• Build automation scripts and tools for instrumentation and deployment.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD with IaC and config mgmt.
• Conduct observability code reviews and automated validation checks.
• Build AI-native tools for autonomous issue detection and resolution.
• Lead design of distributed, reliable, scalable systems.
• Manage data routing, transformation, and endpoint monitoring integrations.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across teams to align observability with business goals.
• Communicate technical insights to leadership.
