Job summary

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a certified Surgical Technologist to join the sterile processing team. The role focuses on aseptic technique, instrument set-up, and supporting intraoperative coordination to ensure efficient, safe procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterility, assisting surgeons with instruments, and collaborating with the nursing staff to prepare for neurointerventional and endovascular procedures.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
• Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA required.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a hospital setting preferred.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Applies asepsis; performs surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving.
• Assembles supplies per procedure requirements.
• Sets up sterile instrument table and assists in draping.
• Anticipates surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Maintains correct count of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Maintains aseptic technique and reports discrepancies.
• Preps and handles specimens per policy.
• Inspects instruments and ensures sterility and function.
• Receives and labels solutions/medications on sterile field.
• Participates in Universal Protocol and fire risk assessment.
• Communicates equipment malfunctions and segregates items for investigation.
• Ensures sharps safety and proper handling within sterile field.
• Maintains organized sterile back table and cleaning standards.
• Assists with OR cleanup and safety measures.
• Maintains professional relationships and ongoing education.
