Job summary

Lumen Technologies seeks a Lead Network Engineer to lead Metro Ethernet and optical transport validation in a Denver lab. You will act as SME for multi-vendor interoperability, develop test plans, and drive automation with engineers across groups.

Strong background in Ethernet, IP routing, MPLS, BGP, and test methodology is required. This is a hybrid, part-time role with a focus on deployment readiness and quality assurance.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• MS in related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Computer Networking.
• 5+ years of experience in Testing/Troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead testing, validation, and qualification of Metro Ethernet and optical transport solutions.
• Develop and execute test plans, define validation methodologies, analyze results.
• Collaborate with architects, engineering, and vendors to validate requirements.
• Partner with automation to build scalable automated test suites.
• Ensure deployment readiness, quality and reliability standards.
• Design and implement test cases and test plans.
• Troubleshoot defects to identify root cause.
• Communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Follow testing methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, DevOps).
