Job summary

Lumen seeks a Senior Lead Network Engineer to design, certify, and automate the IP/MPLS backbone, delivering scalable, high-performance networking across cloud, edge, and AI workloads.

You will lead architecture standards, collaborate with Architecture/Operations/Product teams, and drive automation initiatives using Python and Ansible to improve deployment and operations, while mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in network engineering, IP routing, or service provider environments.
• 8+ years with Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, engineering, certification, and deployment of IP/MPLS backbone technologies.
• Develop and maintain network architecture standards and low-level design docs.
• Serve as technical lead for routing, transport, automation, security, and platform evolution.
• Design and troubleshoot large-scale routing environments (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP-TE, LDP, Segment Routing).
• Develop automation solutions using Python and Ansible to improve deployment and operations.
