Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Director of Metro Ethernet Engineering to lead a high‑performing team across Metro Ethernet, Packet Optical networks, and related ecosystems. You will translate architecture into deployable standards and drive certification, readiness, and deployment practices.

As a value‑driven leader, you will align cross‑functional teams with a focus on customers and outcomes, manage vendor partnerships, and shape roadmap investments for Metro Ethernet evolution in a remote US

Qualifications

10+ years of telecommunications or network engineering experience, including Ethernet, IP/MPLS, optical transport.
5+ years leading engineering teams, programs, or initiatives with talent development.
Experience bringing network technologies from architecture to production deployment.
Strong program management and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high‑performing Metro Ethernet engineering team for network tech and service readiness.
Provide technical leadership across Metro Ethernet, Packet Optical, MetRON and related platforms.
Own certification, interoperability testing, and production readiness for new releases.
Translate architecture into engineering work packages and deployment plans.
Partner with Architecture, Product, Planning, Operations and vendors to align priorities.
Act as engineering escalation lead for complex production issues.
