Job summary

Exowatt is seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to drive MW-class multi-port power conversion development from architecture to certification readiness. The role requires owning product and engineering requirements, evaluating SiC/GaN and Solid State Transformer options, and collaborating across product, systems, controls, firmware, and manufacturing teams.

This senior role is based in Miami, FL, with relocation assistance provided and a path toward certification-ready delivery by Q4 2027.

Qualifications

Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
10+ years in power electronics or high-power converters.
Experience with MW-class converter development and grid-interactive systems.
Hands-on with SiC-based power conversion; GaN preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead architecture for MW-class multi-port power conversion system.
Develop PRD and translate to Engineering Requirements across electrical, thermal, mechanical, controls, firmware, safety, reliability, manufacturability, certification.
Evaluate SiC/GaN and Solid State Transformer options with tradeoffs.
Define system requirements: voltage, power, efficiency, protection, thermal performance.
Build roadmaps, risk registers, validation strategies for timeline.
Lead MW-class power electronics development across topologies.
Guide topology selection and trade studies.
Drive power stage design: semiconductor selection, cooling, insulation.
Coordinate with controls/firmware for modulation and fault response.
Work with certification bodies toward UL/IEEE/IEC standards.
