Job summary

Salt Lake Community College is seeking a Molecular Biosciences Lab Coordinator to manage laboratory operations supporting instruction in molecular biosciences, biotechnology, microbiology, cell biology and genetics. The role acts as a subject matter expert for lab operations, ensuring safe, well-equipped labs and fiscally responsible management.

The coordinator collaborates with faculty, maintains safety protocols, oversees procurement, budgeting, and inventory, and guides continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biosciences or closely related field.
• 2–5 years of experience supporting microbiology, molecular biology, or biotech lab instruction.
• Experience with laboratory safety, procurement, inventory control, and budget management.
• Master’s degree in a related scientific field.

Responsibilities

• Manage weekly setup, maintenance, and takedown of microbiology and related labs.
• Oversee procurement, inventory, expenditure tracking, and budget forecasting.
• Provide instructional support and curriculum implementation across labs.
• Lead recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling of adjunct instructors and aides.
• Support SME initiatives and coordinate lab operations across programs.
