Job summary

Daytona State College seeks a Laboratory Manager to oversee instructional laboratories in Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry. You will prepare labs, support demonstrations, manage materials, and maintain clean, safe facilities for teaching and learning.

You will also handle budgeting, procurement, inventory, and coordination with faculty, IT, Purchasing, and accounts payable. The role includes supervising work-study students and ensuring regulatory compliance and proper chemical handling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry or a closely related field.
• One year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratories and support classroom demonstrations for instructional activities, including lab setup, teardown, and preparation of materials and reagents.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized laboratories and prep rooms to support effective teaching and learning.
• Manage the laboratory budget and procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies; coordinate purchasing with department staff and College departments.
• Hire and supervise work-study students and maintain proper paperwork for hiring and supervision processes.
• Maintain records related to acquisition, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals; ensure compliance with EH&S regulations and SDS requirements.
• Develop, update and communicate laboratory safety and operational procedures; train faculty and staff on safety practices and regulatory requirements.
• May teach up to 9 contact hours.
