Job summary

Gilead is seeking a Lead Scientist in Molecular Biology within the Protein Therapeutics group. The role focuses on designing high-throughput recombinant protein expression workflows for therapeutic programs spanning virology, inflammation, and oncology.

The candidate will oversee plasmid development, advance automation, manage CRO partnerships, and contribute to publications and patents while mentoring the team in a laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• PhD with 3+ years postdoc or industry experience, or equivalent (e.g., BS + 15+ years, MS + 12+ years).
• Extensive expertise in molecular cloning and DNA assembly methods (Gibson, Golden Gate, In-Fusion).
• Experience with automation platforms, DNA repository management, and CRO oversight for sequence verification and data accuracy.
• Proficiency in bioinformatics tools and scripting languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee plasmid and expression construct development using multiple DNA assembly technologies.
• Enhance automation and integrate robotic systems to improve capacity and reduce cycle times.
• Manage external CRO collaborations for sequence verification and data accuracy.
• Develop standardized digital workflows aligned with research informatics.
• Maintain and improve a scalable DNA repository.
• Contribute to scientific publications and patent filings; mentor team members and present findings to stakeholders.
