Underdog.io is hiring a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to drive AI-powered matching and recommendations. This remote-first or NYC-hybrid role puts you at the forefront of ML/AI development in a fast-paced marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of private companies.

You will lead a senior engineering team, establish ML/MLOps best practices, and collaborate with product and business stakeholders to align AI initiatives with company objectives. Strong production ML experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of AI/ML experience delivering consumer/B2B software improvements.
• Strong production expertise in building, modifying, and scaling recommendation systems and engines.
• Proficiency with SQL and data warehouses (e.g., AWS Redshift) for analytics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML/AI models to enhance matching engines and core product features.
• Establish ML and MLOps practices to support ongoing AI development.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define AI strategies aligned with business goals.
• Optimize models for performance, accuracy, and scalability for production deployment.
• Develop and refine recommendation systems using NLP, deep learning, and predictive analytics.
