Job summary

Code Metal is seeking a senior software engineer to advance its Modeling & Simulation platform in Boston. You will design and implement mission- and campaign-level simulations in modern C++ and Python, extending frameworks, plugins, and SDKs for extensible model development.

The role demands strong event-driven architectures, robust software craftsmanship, and the ability to translate complex operational concepts into reliable software.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional software-development experience building simulation or similar complex systems.
• Strong C++ with Python proficiency for tooling and automation.
• Experience with simulation frameworks and various architectures (event-driven, discrete-event, agent-based).
• Ability to translate requirements into robust software abstractions and reusable interfaces.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mission- and campaign-level simulation capabilities.
• Extend frameworks, plugins, and SDKs; ensure reproducibility and validation.
• Lead design reviews and mentor teammates to improve architecture and testing.
• Collaborate with DoD stakeholders to deliver usable capabilities quickly.
• Build verification, validation, and regression testing workflows.
