Job summary

NOAA/NWS Weather Forecast Office in Barrigada, Guam seeks a Lead Meteorologist to supervise shift operations, issue accurate forecasts and warnings, and coordinate with emergency management partners. The role requires interpreting radar data, analyzing weather trends, and delivering timely briefings to decision makers.

You will work rotating shifts in a fulltime role with opportunities for relocation and official duties in a national service context.

Qualifications

• Degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or related field with required coursework.
• One year of specialized experience in meteorology/forecasting at a professional level.
• Ability to develop and disseminate hydrometeorological forecasts, watches and advisories.
• Strong briefing and communication skills for coordination with partners.

Responsibilities

• Serve as shift leader ensuring timely quality forecasts and products.
• Interpret Doppler radar data and satellite imagery for warnings and forecasts.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies on weather-related actions.
• Oversee staff coverage, overtime, and leave during 24/7 operations.
