Job summary

Calhoun Liberty Hospital in Blountstown, FL seeks a Lead Medical Technologist to lead laboratory services under the Director of Laboratory Services. The role spans Hematology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Serology, guiding staff and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The Lead Med Tech will supervise daily operations, mentor personnel, and uphold quality control, safety, and proficiency testing requirements in a Drug-Free Workplace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a medical or science field required.
• One year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Current Florida MT licensure in good standing required.
• Florida SU licensure preferred; must obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Strong communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to high quality, safe laboratory practices for patients.
• Supervises laboratory personnel and assists in policy development.
• Handles and processes specimens with proper identification.
• Analyzes and reports results according to protocols and regulations.
• Maintains records and ensures quality control on equipment and reagents.
• Communicates with shifts and departments regarding issues.
• Provides education and training to staff, fellows, and students.
