Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Lab Operations Supervisor to coordinate the work of others in a medical laboratory setting. The role requires leadership, extensive lab experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science; ASCP certification is preferred. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist is preferred.
• Five years of related experience with demonstrated leadership skills.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Interviews prospective candidates for positions in the laboratory and makes recommendation to Manager.
• Schedules employees for various lab benches and shifts; reviews all work performed in area to ensure completeness and quality and takes corrective action as necessary.
• Provides guidance and consultation to Medical Technologist I's and Medical Lab. Technicians in the interpretation of highly complex or unusual test results.
• Ensures that test results meet requirements of the laboratory quality control program.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed, using computer-based systems.
