Job summary

UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals and extensive lab services in Kentucky. The Medical Laboratory Scientist-Technical Lead will support the Laboratory Supervisor by ensuring adherence to CAP, CLIA, and JCAHO standards, lead section staff, validate new procedures, and coordinate quality control to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years hospital laboratory experience leading a section.
• Experience validating new procedures and coordinating quality control.
• Familiarity with CAP, CLIA, JCAHO, AABB, FDA and related accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Submit feedback for technical evaluation of section employees.
• Direct observation and competency validation of department staff.
• Recommend and implement improvements to achieve goals and outcomes.
• Monitor quality control and proficiency testing.
• Ensure accreditation standards are met for the department.
• Review and revise procedures and manuals biannually.
• Evaluate new technologies with the department Medical Director.
• Serve in a problem-solving role for the department.
• Assist in onboarding new department employees; participate in orientation.
