Job summary

UofL Health's South Hospital - UMC in Shepherdsville, KY seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist-Technical Lead to support the Laboratory Supervisor in maintaining accreditation standards and leading SOP validation and quality control.

The role includes mentoring staff, ensuring competency, driving process improvements, monitoring QC, and coordinating with the Medical Director on equipment and workflow to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree meeting CLIA standards for medical laboratory personnel.
• Two years hospital laboratory experience in a section leading role.
• Medical Technologist certification (MT) required; MT(ASCP)/MT(AMT)/MT(HEW/HHS) noted.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical review of SOPs and validates new procedures.
• Monitors quality control and proficiency testing for the department.
• Ensures accreditation standards (CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, AABB, FDA, OSHA) are met.
• Leads orientation and competency assessment for new staff.
• Collaborates with Medical Director on capital purchases and workflow improvements.
